The Calm Before Gustav

Views from our condo...
Views from my beach chair...
YES!!!...it was that gorgeous (and then some) at the beach this weekend and I am so glad we went even though our stay was abbreviated because Gustav was brewing in the Gulf!!!

We left headed for the beach on Friday afternoon and after a few stops in Destin we arrived in Sunnyside (aka Panama City Beach) that evening. We spent the entire day Saturday on the beach or at the pool. When we woke up Sunday, we went ahead and got out on the beach despite the clouds. The sun came out and the kids had a blast playing around in the sand, catching crabs, and looking for shells. The water was getting a little choppy for the kids to play in, so when it got hot we made our way back to the pool to cool off. We decided to pack up and head home late that afternoon since we were not sure exactly where Gustav was headed, just knew it would be yucky beach weather either way. So...here's to the end of another wonderful summer:)
PS Jamey did make it home safely late on Saturday night - thank you for your prayers. He is still home and they are not letting anyone fly out yet. So... if "crew change" happens before they can get back out there to check out the damage, he could possibly be home for three weeks:)

  2. I'm glad the beach and the weather was so pretty for y'all! It's so much better when the water is so clear and beautiful. Glad Jamey made it home safe and sound. Maybe he'll get to hang around an extra week. I'm sure you and Caroline would enjoy that!

  4. It looks like everyone had a great time. Our girls will be in black & white uniforms outlined in gold, w/black & gold poms. Of course, probably alot of others will be too. We won't know until Saturday what yard line we'll be on.
